I love how this cake turned out. It was made for Blakely's 4th birthday. I was able to find the little pieces at a dollar store and I airbrushed the flames on the bottom. My favorite part is the hose!

I made these 2 cakes for twins! Jessie and Buzz were for the little girl and Woody and Rex were for the birthday boy. I thought these cakes were so sweet and loved how they worked together! They are covered with buttercream and there are fondant accents. The hats and boots are candy melts that I molded.

This is actually a bridal shower cake and not technically a wedding cake. The bride's colors were blue and silver. All the decorations on the cake were made from fondant.

Both the bride and groom are very down to earth and love the outdoors, so this really seemed to fit them. The groom prosposed at a Virginia Cavs game because they're both fans. Look for the orange and blue butterfly I did as a wink to that.

This was made for a good friend at work that LOVES shoes. She owns quite a few pair that I am envious of!! The small shoes are plastic and the polka dot ribbon is fabric. The large shoe on top is gum paste. The insole is embossed with the birthday girl's name.

So, my first attempt at a sugar-free buttercream did not go so well. Luckily I had picked up a couple of cans of Pillbury sugar free frosting. I can't say that it was my favorite medium to work with, but the end result turned out pretty well.

This was my second twilight cake. This time, I did manage to incorporate all 4 covers in the cake and this time I made all of the decorations! The apple is fondant and the tulip petals are gumpaste. I made the chess pieces from white chocolate using a 3-D mold.

I have to say I'm very proud of my cake assistant. For her 10th birthday, she came up with the design and colors for her cake. I iced the cake for her, but she decided the on the colors for the white chocolate, tie dye peace signs and she did all the placement! Thank goodness she was so good at this, because I was recovering from a stomach flu when we were doing this cake, I felt so yucky that I forgot all about taking pictures until after we cut the first piece!!

Pirate Treasure Map Cake

This cake was made for a little girl that loves pirates. She really like the "X" she saw on other cakes, so we came up with this design. Mom provided the sunken ship, I added the octopus arms and the "map" is fondant that I hand painted with food coloring. It was a hit!

"Pouring" Diet Coke Cake

This was a Mother's Day cake for a mom that LOVED Diet Coke. The "Coke" is poured sugar. This was my first foray into using poured sugar with cakes. My friend Sherry tells me that she loves the cake but that it should have been Sun Drop instead for it to be perfect. I have to say I agree, but the Coke was pretty cool too!

Caillou Cake

Her subject was the gay and lesbian community, so I tried to come up with cake that was fun, but educational. This was my first go at the rainbow stripe cake. Hot Pink Zebra Stripe Cake

The customer requested that the birthday cake match the tableware that her daughter had selected for her Sweet 16 birthday party. I tried a new technique by using devil's food and white cake to create the zebra "stripes" inside the bottom layer. I thought it made a really cute addition to the outside stripes. There center of the top looks a little bare because the customer had blinged out a number 16 to top it with after I delivered the cake.

The first rule of Fight Club Cake is, you do not talk about Fight Club Cake. Only kidding! So, obviously this ain't your mama's birthday cake. It was made for a friend's husband, who's favorite movie is Fight Club. I discovered in researching this cake, that Fight Club is not a popular subject for cakes. So, that's great news is you want to be the first, bad news if you need inspiration. I used luster dust and powdered food coloring to "dirty up" the fondant lettering. The large bubbles are gelatin and the small ones are fondant. So, here it is. I hope he likes it!

Laura tells me that everytime she sees this cake she says "Awwww". I have to agree. Everytime I look at it I have to stop and smile. Obviously this was for a baby shower for a baby girl. Interestingly enough, the baby shower never happened because the baby felt she wanted to attend! So grandma, who ordered the cake, took the cake to the hospital to share with the nurses and staff, which I thought was very sweet. The baby shoes were made from gumpaste and then brushed with super pearl luster dust. The baby blanket, baby carriages, footprints and stripes were made from fondant. The cake is covered in buttercream.

Tap Dance Cake

This dance cake is the sister cake to the football cake, literally. The young lady that this was made for is Ryan's sister from the football cake. Her birthday celebration was the same weekend as the graduation celebration, so that was a busy week for me, but so much fun since these are 2 of my favorite cakes. The shoes (after much hearbreak) are plastic. I bought an awesome 3-D mold for the tap shoes and made, what felt like, 6 dozen trials. But I could never get a perfectly seamless shoe. The taps on the bottom of the shoe are made of fondant and then dusted with silver luster dust. I have to admit that this cake is inspired by another dance cake that I saw on Google images and I immediately knew it was perfect for this dancer. So, a big thank you to the original designer!

Football Cake

This cake was done for a high school graduation celebration. The graduate is a football player and the "P" is the team's logo. The football is made from Rice Krispie treats, covered with fontant. The football helmets are white chocolate. The cake itself is covered in buttercream and the grass from the "exploding" ground is fondant as well. After I took the photo, I ended up added Go above Ryan's name so that it read "Go Ryan". I just thought it went well with the whole football theme.

Seashell Bridal Shower Cake

This cake was made for a co-workers bridal shower. She was getting married on the beach, so a beach theme was requested. I made the shells from white chocolate and then dusted them with luster dust to give them a pearl like sheen. The "sand" was raw sugar. The coral pieces are also white chocolate that I piped onto waxed paper and then sat up behind the shells.

Brooke's Beach Cake

I made this cake for my very good friend's daughter's birthday. She really wanted a tropical/beach theme with bright colors. The shells and starfish are made from white chocolate. The coral pieces are made from fondant, like the Finding Nemo cake. The hula girls and palm trees are figures that were purchased.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake

This was the second cake that I made. This was for a little girl who loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Although I'm sure you've noticed that there is no actual clubhouse on this cake, it was not overlooked. Peyton's mom and I discussed it and she decided that including the clubhouse looked too busy. The stars, balloons, Mickey heads and flowers are all fondant. Everything else is buttercream.

Finding Nemo Cake

This "Finding Nemo" cake was my very first "decorated" cake, the ONE that started it all! The sign and coral are all made from fondant. The Nemo characters are figures that I purchased from ebay and the seaweed is buttercream. All in all I was very pleased with my first effort and I think it was a very sweet cake (in every sense of the word).

ECU - Pee Dee the Pirate Cake
